Essential Seasonings: Spicy Autumn Equinox

  • The Peabody Institute Library Sutton Room 82 Main Street Peabody, MA, 01960 United States (map)

A rare concert blend of unpredictable musical flavors and tastes. And, indeed, MEE will perform an eclectic mix of Baroque (Telemann), early and late Classical/early Romantic (mid-career Franz Josef Haydn and Giovanni Battista Viotti); French Impressionism based on music for poetry (Debussy), and, finally, from 1971 in the USA, a contemplative sampling of Copland’s little known chamber music written in memory of Igor Stravinsky and his friend Beatrice Cunningham. For most of the program, the unifying element? Virtuoso flutist Orlando Cela, whose musical artistry will delight your sense of taste no matter what the spice. Experience MEE’s quirky yet delectable feast as the year turns toward Autumn.
